Twos Classroom
My main goal in the classroom is not only to provide a loving environment for the children, but to also enrich their lives with learning while having fun. There is nothing more gratifying than witnessing a young child learn something new, knowing that you have been a driving force behind that growth. The 2 year old classroom is safely organized with clearly established areas suitable for differing developmental needs to promote growth in Social/Emotional, Physical, Language, Cognitive, Literacy, Mathematics, Social Studies, the Arts and provides opportunity for Science and Technology. Each day I have planned activities that teach counting and numbers, color and shape recognition and provide music and movement activities. The daily schedule incorporates bible lesson and theme related crafts and activities. Weekly lesson plans allow me to document, analyze and plan for observation while giving each child individualized attention. Toilet training occurs based on a child’s readiness and consultation with parents regarding practices in the children’s homes. Positive toilet training practices are encouraged through books, songs and by setting up a regular schedule for training. Progress with the training is recorded each day on each child’s daily sheet. Helping children to learn the Christian faith and planning my classroom environment with inquiry and discovery in mind greatly compliments my passion for guiding young children at St. Paul’s Lutheran Child Center.
